About my class

I teach at the only Title 1 middle school in our school district, with close to 80% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. With the pressures that come along with living in a high poverty area, I have several students that have little to no motivation to participate in traditional classroom activities. I also have a lot of students with attention difficulties that need more hands-on experiences to release their creativity and help them learn. Therefore, in hopes of reaching all of my students, I incorporate a lot of labs and hands-on experiences in the science classroom. I am a firm believer in using STEAM strategies to motivate students to learn and to teach students problem solving and 21st century skills that will be needed in their future workplace. By donating to my classroom, you will be providing experiences that my students will be able to build upon to get out of poverty in the future.
