I am the Media Specialist in a PreK – 8 school in Cleveland, Ohio. Our school is 70% bilingual and 20% Special Education. The students at our school are very poor, and receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite this, they are some of the brightest, strongest, and most inspiring students I have taught. The teachers at our school are very caring and go above and beyond to make sure that our students get everything they need. Our students have limited exposure to technology; most do not have access to computers at home. They are extremely motivated when given the opportunity to work in the computer lab, but it is often only used for testing or for intervention programs. We have several computers in the Media Center, but unfortunately they are not dependable due to their age. Our students are terrific, and deserve to have proper learning tools at school, especially since they do not have access to them at home.
