I teach Pre-K (3-year-olds) for Liberty-Eylau ISD in Texarkana TX. This is my 11th year in pre-k teaching 3's. My students are amazing! 3-year-olds are smart and quick and so very loving! They are eager to learn EVERYTHING and they want to SHARE everything they learn. Each year I have a class size between 16 and 22 students. Over 90% of my students live at or below the poverty level. In a typical year, over 60% of my students are African American, 30% are non-English speaking or dual language and roughly 10% are special needs. Because my class is exclusively 3-year-olds, I do not qualify for much of the federal or state funding and grants that Pre-K 4 teachers receive. My 3-year-olds have as great a need as the 4's. I want to do everything I can to close the achievement gap and create a passion for learning with our youngest students.
