I have full classes, totaling over 700 students, that come to my room each and every week to learn not only literacy based reading strategies but the passion that is found in all the processes of literacy. The mix of students; grade levels K-5, special needs, emotion support, regular ed and gifted provides a lot of variation in needs, experiences, and opportunities provided in my room. All students look at my room in a positive 'light' (get it : ) and making connections through the atmosphere I provide, allows them an increased engagement level and knowledge base in which they build on. I do truly value the backgrounds each brings to my room, and use their uniqueness to build life and social skills that all moral and ethical students should have to be successful in school, home, and life. Many of my students do not have access to reading materials and through the 'feeling' in my classroom their motivation to interact with literacy in all facets is increased! I give them all I can!
