My fifth and sixth grade students have been learning German as a second language since kindergarten. They are curious, fun-loving, and capable of great achievements. We speak with kindness to each other and do hard things every day. I have the most fun with my students when they are motivated to learn. We love to play games to help us learn new words, and to get to know each other better. Becoming bilingual helps us understand the world in different ways, and helps us make friends with people we otherwise might never have been able to get to know. Our school feels like a supportive family, because we have all known each other for such a long time, and have strong relationships with each other.
