I teach at an urban K-8 school where my students are a diverse group of learners who come from many different cultural backgrounds. We spend most of our day exploring, examining and evaluating scientific phenomenon, developing critical thinking skills and learning how to communicate using logic and reasoning. As the focus for this new century of learners is to develop analytical thinkers, we engage in many different tasks that produce skills normally taught in the solidarity of an English or Math classroom. Through these efforts students build upon their writing, problem solving and evaluative skills to become much more successful academically.
