In the upcoming school year I will have a wonderful class of at least twenty-two students from very diverse backgrounds. Carney Academy is one of the top performing schools in New Bedford, Massachusetts despite its location in the projects. The students come from difficult backgrounds and don't have many opportunities outside of school. We also have a significant amount of English language learners. I try to create a home away from home in my classroom especially for those students whose home life is less than desirable.

About my class
