Many of the students I work with come from all kinds of background, but I have seen the need for students to express things they go through at home and at school. Our school does not have a counselor that they can go speak to. I have seen the student express themselves through art and writing. We began working on their art journals a few weeks ago and I have seen some beautiful work. Unfortunately our art supplies quickly ran low. The students use the journals to tell a story through their art. I find the journals to be very therapeutic and hope to continue the project through out the year. They will then have something to take home and continue adding to if they want. Many of the items such as gesso, stencils, all glue, mod mod podge, etc., are used to create mixed media. Theses items will be used by the students to work in their journals.
