I recently moved to California from Chicago. I was unable to take my entire classroom library with me. I donated my library of books (nearly 1,000) to the school to distribute to teachers on our campus. Now, I am faced with providing my classroom books that "look, feel and sound" like them and the issues they are experiencing in their lives - racism, sexism, social media influence, LGBTQ, poverty, mental health challenges, dysfunctional families, friendships, immigration, self-esteem - just to name a few. Luckily, there are amazing authors out there who have written award-winning novels and books that are interesting, fun, and filled with these issues and more. Please help me create a library full of books where kids can "see and explore themselves" in the world, they read in the pages of a book. Thank you so much!
