Students love doing work away from their desks. Flexible seating allows students to take ownership of their learning and work where they decide. I have chosen cushions for students to sit on during independent time so that they can be more comfortable when sitting on the floor as they seem to gravitate to that area to work with a partner or in groups. The cushions are lightweight, easy to clean and easy to store away in my room. I've seen how flexible seating has worked in other classrooms and improved student successes and hope this will benefit my students!
