Being a first year, emergency certified teacher, has been an interesting experience. While many teachers are leaving the profession, I have find life fulfillment after a season of searching. That is in large part to the students I'm privileged to teach. Many of my students have been forgotten and discarded. Many of them are required to help provide for their families. Many of them have incarcerated parents. Many of them go home to places where adult figures practice self-medication to make it through the next. And many of my students medicate themselves. But what all of the students need, regardless of what they go home to, is a place to feel safe and warma place to know someone believes in them. I want my classroom to be that place. Donations will benefit 180 students, grades 7-12, this year and hundreds more in years to come.
