Our school is in North Texas and is a Title I school that is considered as low income. My students are extremely bright but have not been expose to very much. I can see they have very bright futures and can be very successful with the right nurturing and support. Often I tell my students, "Make sure you are reading at home." They respond by saying "We don't have any books at my house or they will say I only have 1 book and I already read that book". Some of my students only get the opportunity to read at school. I think that if they are exposed to more at school they will be able to reach their highest potential. We cannot change their home life but we can control what goes on at school and expose them to as much as possible while we have them.
