My students need this greenhouse to be able to get these sometimes difficult biology units through to them. This will help me provide them with hands on lesson that will cover multiple standards, which otherwise would've been covered with book work. It will cover: 5. PS3.D.1 which is for them to gather the understanding that our energy ultimately comes from the sun, then through the food we eat.5. LS1.C.1 That plant growth comes from air, water, and soil.5. LS2.B.1 The plant cycle, as we talk about soil and compost. Possibly the biggest reason is to show them that learning can be fun. I hope this can interest some of them in gardening and agriculture. Possibly giving them an interest that will guide them to a career they may not have thought about before. As we grow vegetables and talk about what we are eating and growing I would like to think this would make them make healthier food choices. This will lead to discussions of alternative energies for a more sustainable future. The possibilities are endless with this, and I hope that you believe in this too. This could be, the introduction to the most important lessons of their lives.
