I want to learn, but I just can't sit in those hard metal chairs!! Alternative seating options have been found to be extremely beneficial for students who are constantly fidgeting or having a hard time sitting still. Students that have a hard time sitting still have a difficult time learning. Not being able to stop fidgeting or moving their bodies takes away from learning. For these students, they have a hard time processing where their body is in space. To compensate, their bodies stay in constant motion to give the brain the feedback it needs. There are a variety of chairs such as the "Wobble Chair" which allows for the needed movement the student is desiring. It allows the child to rock from side to side or front to back. They allow the child to fidget yet still be at their desk or table. By allowing the child to find the best way for them to sit, allows them more time to focus on learning.
