My class is a micro-CTT class, which contains two teachers, a special education teacher and a general education teacher. I have a mix of students that come from different backgrounds. My classroom contains neurotypical students and students with special needs; specifically Asperger's Syndrome. Our school is a public school that includes grades Pre-K through grade 5. My students are full of questions on how the world works and why things happen. The students with autism have a very difficult time understanding the social world around them. In helping them grasp and make sense of social issues and situations, certain materials would help in their progression towards self-awareness. Due to their inability to understand social situations, their comprehension of text is hindered.
