I'm really enjoying teaching some of the smartest and sweetest 3rd - 5th graders with autism. I once heard that "if you meet one child with autism, you've met one child with autism". This is so true, every student that I have had the pleasure of teaching has been so completely different than their classmate. My ASD unit is new to this wonderful little elementary school tucked away in a neighborhood off main roads. They don't have the extra funds that other schools have from the high numbers of free and reduced lunch. So I'm unable to purchase the things most elementary classroom have. My students not only need a learning evnironment that is set up to promote highest student achievement, they deserve it.
