My students and I have had fun learning and moving together to utilize the new materials that have been funded. The favorite so far has been the yoga mats and games! Many of my students have a need in learning self-in space and body awareness, which has been perfectly supported by movement activities and the yoga games. The yoga mats have been a helpful and fun tool for my students to learn how to work within a defined space.\r\n\r\nMy students had the opportunity to help me unbox the materials. As a special education teacher, working with the blind and visually impaired, I was able to conduct life skills and age-appropriate lessons in using tools like scissors to learn how to unbox and unpack various items in different packaging materials. My students enjoyed learning how this processed worked and had the opportunity to help determine where the best place to store these items would be. This again helped support lessons in independent living skills, compensatory skills, and their orientation and mobility knowledge. In the inboxing of the materials, some of my students who use low vision devices had the opportunity to utilize their technology to identify what was on the package and identify what was in the package.\r\n\r\nMy students have been successful and have been enjoying utilizing these tools into lessons, where we will continue to incorporate our curriculum with functional life skills. We are evolving and growing with the body and spatial awareness, to support these students being able to be safe and independent travelers despite their level of vision.","fullyFundedDate":1734623686557,"projectUrl":"project/dream-it-do-it-what-is-your-vision/8818432/","projectTitle":"Dream It, Do It!
