My students are between the ages of 5 and 6 and are in kindergarten in Las Vegas, NV. They are really spunky and creative, but are in need of more center activities to help them improve their phonics skills. Unfortunately they are growing bored of the ones we have already. By the end of the year, the standards require kindergarteners to be fluent in many phonics skills such as blending, short vowels, long vowels, syllable identification and beginning, middle and ending sounds to name a few. New center activities would provide my students the opportunity to work independently. These skills will help them become the amazing readers I know they can be and will help them thrive in first grade!
