Brook, Rose, Carlos, and 7 other students are in different grades but share one deep connection: they are all student musicians in the vocal jazz program at my high school in Northern California. These amazing students have been working towards music festivals in the larger markets of the Santa Clara, Anaheim, Long Beach, and Oceanside areas. They will be traveling to compete in the Music In The Parks festival in Santa Clara. In most cases, the students find that they are "ok" when they are finished being on stage and that they have a newfound confidence not only in their skills as a musician but in themselves as a person. Then they begin to share the experiences with others that have not yet been to adjudicated festivals. They begin to be more confident in their other school subjects and participate in those as well. The students will, with your help, be able to attend this festival. Otherwise, we will not be able to go.
