When I was in Kindergarten, one of my favorite things to do was to walk to the public library and check out one of two types of books. The first were anthologies of Peanuts comics. The second were books on tape. They brought a whole new dimension to already amazing stories! I began to acquire my own library of books on tape and other cassettes. The one I can only assume I listened to the most was a little red cassette. I can still hear the voice of the woman who narrated the adventures through the Western U.S. States. I can still hear the sound of the helicopter as it flew over the Grand Canyon and the water dripping as I explored Carlsbad Caverns. It is my dream to give my students the same experience and love for reading that I had...and still have. One of the most important ways children grow is by using their imaginations. I am looking forward to helping student tap into their creative potential this year!
