Our current chairs are disgusting with a thick layer of 20-year-old dirt and grime that we attempt to clean throughout the year. Many have permanent bad words or inappropriate pictures on them that I have to creatively draw on top of to disguise. We have made a class pact that the people with long hair get the chairs with tight screws because the ones with loose screws get hair caught in it and a handful of their hair is ripped from their heads. Some even have cracks on the seating area that pinch their legs! They sometimes race in and argue over who gets what chair. This saddens me that a basic learning necessity, like a good chair, is one of the first things that they think about when they come to class. I can't wait to have these exciting new chairs! After our daily greeting and hyped up entrance, students can eagerly get a sturdy, safe, clean, and dare-to-say excitingly colorful chair to enjoy and focus on learning all day, without this basic distraction. Who knew chairs were so expensive?! We need your help.
