My students want a safe space in the classroom that allows them to relax while reading, meditating, and/or participating in restorative circles. My special education students benefit from having a space that offers a bit of privacy and comfort as they navigate through their day. With the furniture requested, a corner area will be created for students as an alternative to row seating. My students need book shelves, a carpet, meditation pillows, and blankets to foster a nurturing area set aside for meditation, reading, and/or restorative circles. Restorative circles will be held in this area when situations do arise between students. This will allow students to peacefully resolve conflicts and be considered a sacred space. It will also be used as a meditation area open to all students.
