My Special needs students struggle with remaining on task and completing their assignments. My students' disabilities range from ADHD to Autism to Learning Disabilities. Their disabilities impact them in a range of ways. Many of my students require the support of a computer to complete their assignments. Once completed, my students require the use of a color printer. With no color printers in our school, my students are not able to produce work in different colors, which they require for a variety of reasons. My students also have grown accustom to working and enjoying a LifeSaver mint. My students use these mints while working as a tool for tactile purposes and to help them focus. Additionally, my students enjoy receiving these simple mints as incentives when good work or positive behaviors require reinforcing and rewarding.
