Our school based team assists student in navigating their adolescent years, completing their education, obtaining skills leading to employment or continuing education and graduating healthy and drug free. All while promoting an overall sense of health and well being for our students. Studies have shown practicing yoga and mindfulness reduces feelings of stress and improves anxiety and distress when placed in a stressful social situation. It has also shown changes in the brain that correspond to less reactivity, and better ability to engage in tasks even when emotions are activated. Students will be meeting with me during their gym time in small groups to practice yoga and mindfulness. We are looking to introduce our students to yoga, mindfulness, and meditation as a proactive measure to increase attendance, decrease depression, anxiety and suicidal ideations. We hope to create a positive, welcoming environment for our students to embrace both their physical and mental health.
