Our program is fortunate in that our school is situated on a large city park that includes a couple of baseball diamonds. However, our program lacks the basic equipment that will allow our team to take full advantage of the facilities just outside our doors. We are in need of practice balls and game balls, batting helmets and a set of bases. This basic equipment will improve the quality and safety of our team practices and allow us to compete with other schools. Having access to basic equipment will also demonstrate to our student-athletes that they are valued and adults care about their development as athletes, students and citizens. My team and program have many challenges. Our kids are hard working and I emphasize the importance of grades and discipline. We are from all races and backgrounds but come together as a team and organization to work towards our goals.
