Students come to Science ready to be challenged. In my classroom students are given the opportunity to grapple with real-world complex issues as the vehicle to learn key scientific concepts and standards. My classroom may be noisy with groups of students actively engaged with experiments or absolutely silent as they work on an independent reflection or assignment. Noisy or quiet the students are always focused. Through the use of carefully planned Learning Targets students in my class always know what they are working toward and what they need to master. We Are Crew Not Passengers are the words we live by. To us, this means building a community where we care and support one another both socially and academically. Through these projects, I will be able to support students in fostering the important collaborative skills which are integral to success in high school, college, and career.
