My students are creative, introspective, and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to learn and grow through problem-solving! My students understand that you have to make mistakes in order to learn. They come to school each day ready to try new things and take risks so they can make mistakes necessary to grow both personally and academically. Aspire Berkley Maynard Academy is a TK-8 school that is located in North Oakland, in a neighborhood that is undergoing rapid gentrification. It is special because it is a commuter school that serves students from Richmond, Antioch, San Leandro, Hayward, and, of course, Oakland. In fact, many of our student's parents and even grandparents actually went to school in our building when they were children and the surrounding neighborhood was an affordable place to live.
