I teach in an urban public high school in Dorchester, MA. My students are all recent immigrants to the U.S., coming from the D.R., Cape Verde, Guatemala, Haiti, El Salvador, Vietnam, and more. They range in age from 15 to 21. Nearly all students qualify for free or reduced lunch, most students will be the first in their family to graduate from college, and many will be the first in their family to graduate from high school. They are all driven to not only learn English, but to really succeed in the United States.
