Our classroom is a special day class (SDC) for 4th to 6th grade students with moderate to severe autism. Our students are wonderful kids who believe they have a uniqueness about them that the other students on campus don't yet fully understand. One of my students remarked on the first day of school, " You underestimate my autism." I believe the neurotypical students on campus are willing to learn more about our students with autism and celebrate their victories.
