In my room, I want students to be able to move around and get away from the confines of a desk. A large area rug will give them a comfortable place to sit during read alouds and lessons, as well as a gathering space for independent work time. The surf seats will allow students who need to move and wiggle another seating option, while still giving them a sturdy surface to write and work out problems on. I don't like sitting on hard chairs in cramped spaces all day, so why should I ask my students to? These seating options will allow students to learn and grow in comfortable spaces all year.
