I teach special needs students in an impoverished neighborhood located in southern Nevada. All of my students receive free and reduced lunch. Many of the students come from families that are learning English as a second language. These students all have varying levels of learning disabilities. My class is not successful in a typical classroom environment. They need additional support and opportunities to master basic skills and concepts. The students have varying learning styles that are not frequently identified in a general education classroom. Many of my students are tactile learners and need to experience the concept in order to understand it and master it.
