My students are the most outstanding group of middle schoolers that I have come across. They don't have the easiest home lives, but that doesn't hinder their enthusiasm for learning. Our school is located in a high poverty and high crime area of a major city. We are a title 1 school with 99% of students receiving free lunch. We have a high population of African American students, but also have a number of Hispanic and Asian children, as well. My kids really love to learn, especially through projects, labs and hands-on activities. They have really taken a liking to science this year and love conducting scientific experiments.
