Many of my students have no idea what computer science is. Through simple games they can begin to learn the concepts of computer science, but in a fun and easily accessible way. Computer Science isn't hard, it is a just a different way of thinking, and these games will help my students understand that. Robot Turtles is a board game where students use cards to move their turtle to the jewel on the board. It includes computer science concepts, such as writing code, commenting on code, executing a subroutine in their code, and debugging code. Code Masters is based off of Mine Craft and. In Code Master, students move their avatar through a world trying to find a crystal. They must use programming logic to navigate the map of the world. These games will help teach my students computer science concepts as well as offer my students a break when they are frustrated or confused with their code. Sometimes the best way to solve a problem is with a break and some fun and these games will do just that!
