My students are fantastically motivated and smart, but they don't have a lot of advantages like some schools. This is an inner-city urban school, with over 80% of the students receiving free or reduced lunch. We're a very diverse group, with multiple ethnicities and races represented. The school itself was built over 100 years ago to serve as the original Negro high school for the area. It's now the magnet school for the district, with high level programs and courses for motivated, high-achieving students.
