In our classroom we currently have a mixture of calculators. Many do not have the functions required in the 8th grade math curriculum. My students have enough obstacles in their lives and they deserve a working set of calculators to help them develop math skills. Many times they are frustrated when a calculator won't turn on or gives them an incorrect answer (although this is a wonderful teaching opportunity!). I want my students to be able to focus on the task and skills they are learning. A new set of calculators will allow them to do this and much more!
