My students are a beautiful group of rural, eager to learn babies. They are in the sixth grade and struggling with insecurities and trying to discover themselves. This is the first time out of elementary school, and a scary time for some of them. Many of my students have never been out of their area and have no idea there is a big world outside of our small town. I strive to open their eyes to the great big world beyond our town's city limits. Most of my students are male, as I teach single gender male for half my classes. My boys need to touch, feel, interact, and explore to learn. They require hands-on learning and learn best when they can relate personally. I want to teach these kids more than just what is in our textbooks, I want science to come alive and go with them the rest of their lives, because they are a very deserving group.
