My students are energetic and independent. Flexible seating options allow for them to be both while making smart academic and behavior choices. My students currently work with a rotating station structure; two stations are raised tables and two stations are lowered tables; allowing for optimal movement during transition. My students need more! By implementing isolated movement work stations for my students with ADHD and/or Autism, we can maximize energy output, increase learning and decrease learning distractions. This school year, the use of differentiated seating has impacted positive behavior choices and increased learning. Next year, the products I have chosen will help build a comfortable family-like unit, increase positive behaviors and build self-confidence. The adjustable desks will give energetic students the option to sit or stand with a foot fidget pedal; they can even use the dry erase desktop to solve problems. The stability ball chair is a perfect pairing when the students are on the laptop. It is a comfortable option that allows for bouncing or repetitive motions. I already know that the pedal desk with resistance is going to be the class favorite. Who wouldn't want to ride a bike and work? Lastly, the students will thank me for giving them something comfortable to sit on when learning at the lowered tables.
