My students are 5th graders attending an low income intermediate school in Connecticut. They come from all areas of town, mostly from an urban setting and many of them qualify for free/reduced lunch price. School offers the consistency and success that they so desire in their lives. My 5th graders are constantly designing and creating brilliant work! They would love to be able to print and document their work. There is something incredibly satisfying about actually holding something that you have worked on, and I want my students to experience that feeling. Our school is full of wonderful students and dedicated teachers, but our resources are very few. Children learn by doing, but in a high poverty school, they often lack enriching experiences unless we provide them. They are hard workers, and are always happy with they have, but I want to give them more!
