I am a unit coordinator in a special education school in Brooklyn, NY. Here at my site we have 6 special education classrooms, four 6:1:1's, one 8:1:1, and an inclusion program. At our site we have 40 wonderful students who have a variety of disabilities including autism, intellectual disabilities, and speech and language impairments. We serve students from grades K-5 who range greatly in their needs and abilities. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds and many receive free lunch.
