Our Nevada State Standards ask that students be able to design and use technologies to create their designs. The technologies needed to create their set design are the tools they need to build their set-pieces. The projects they work on also give them opportunities to apply geometry to real-life situations. Covid limits shared use of tools without sanitation and students pool up in the areas while they're waiting for their turn to use the little equipment we have. Lots of students are getting excluded from close contact with other students. We have the space to spread out, but our small amount of tools makes social distancing nearly impossible. We either need more tools or we have to skip these important projects. We've already had a year where we couldn't use the tools at all and students are missing necessary skills as theatre-makers without access to tools.
