When people hear that I teach fifth grade, they often get a strange look on their faces and begin talking about how bad fifth grade is. While it does come with its challenges, fifth grade is my grade of choice. Because I teach in a Title One School, my class consists of a diverse group of students that bring different backgrounds and life experiences. Many of my students have limited experiences outside of their hometown, and have witnessed poverty on a day to day basis. The diversity in my classroom has taught me a lot in the past few years. While my students are learning from me, I am constantly learning new things from them as well.
