My students live a high-poverty low-income urban area of central Mississippi. My students are bright, energetic, and eager to learn. Most of them are kinesthetic learners. Many of them truly enjoy math, but there are some that are well-below fourth grade level. My school is a small majority African-American school that has been a failing school going on three years. Math has been a weak area for our school and is one of the reasons that it is ranked an F school.
