My students can sit comfortably around the flower-shaped tables using interchangeable seating such as bounce balls, stationary stools, or Wobble stools. The tables will allow them to work collaboratively as they develop their communication skills sharing space and materials. These tables will be used for whole or small group instruction. Flexible seating is developmentally appropriate for first graders. Whether students are moving from a centers-based kindergarten classroom or from their own homes following Covid-19, they can easily transition into a classroom with flexible seating. Children can select their own seating, position, and location. Also, flexible seating provides sensory input for students with ADHA, ADD, and ASD. When students are comfortable they are more likely to be engaged and learning.
