My students need interactive hands-on centers to help aid in their understanding of some challenging math and reading skills. The reading comprehension, inference, and main idea centers I've chosen for my project will be used during our language arts block every day! The materials I have chosen for my class will build their vocabulary skills and aid in the understanding of their reading material by making sense of what they read with background knowledge and new knowledge. Reading and building vocabulary are the cornerstones of each student's education and our main academic goal. During centers, students have the opportunity to improve not only their academic skills but also their social skills. Social skills used in centers include sharing, being respectful, and being proactive in their own learning. The sequencing center, punctuation center, and contractions center will build on their knowledge of how to tell a story in order, write a story using correct grammar and then, present their work to the class. These activities will also give my students extra support that they may not receive at home. My math centers will assist students in making sense of numbers and practicing multiplication independently to be successful for the next grade. These materials will enhance their learning and daily practice of addition, subtraction, place value, and money by adding another component during centers. Some students struggle in math and need constant practice and reassurance to slowly build self confidence. My class is full of 25 bright and high achieving scholars! They will use these activities in centers to reach our goal of 100% gains on our next NWEA assessment! These interactive centers will support their day to day learning and help each individual student to make great improvements in their academic learning. Thank you for your support!
