I want to give every kid in my classroom the best seat in the house! With the help of a new document camera, I will be able to do just that!
A document camera is something we use in my classroom on the daily! I am able to show all the tiny details of using a material to my whole class with the same amount of "Up-Close-and-Personal" that I could only give to one child at a time before! That is a game-changer!
Being able to see techniques demonstrated in real time is just more engaging! Need to see how to tie a knot? No need to wait for me to come to your table and show you again, it's right up on the screen-big and clear! Not sure if you understood it the first time you saw it? I can create a looped video with this camera and allow it to play again and again for as long as it takes for all children to gain understanding. This tool will just make learning more accessible for everyone in my classroom! Students will not have to wait for my one-on-one demonstrations nearly as often. That lack of wait time helps to keep students engaged in what they are learning. I also use the camera to allow students to help teach one another. Say a child does a super nice job with the coloring techniques I just demonstrated. I can allow that student to take their work to the camera and project it for the whole class to see. Not only have my students just seen a great example of what they need to be doing, but the opportunity to engage with the technology and gain recognition from their peers is extremely motivating and exciting for them!
