My students have been interested in yoga this year. Instead of getting them yoga mats I think padded exercise mats would be more practical and used in a variety of activities (gymnastics, self defense, exercises done on the floor...) Students will be able to have their own space on the floor for core exercises, protection from the gym floor to prevent bruises and lower back pain, as well as providing safety when learning gymnastics skills like headstands, handstands and cartwheels. They love this stuff, but we lack the equipment to teach it. I strive to provide my students with a wide variety of enriching activities. Having a class set of mats will be a game-changer that helps me expose them to more challenging movements and also teach them about safety. These mats would also be shared throughout our department so ALL P.E. students benefit. Thanks for your donation to the Capuchino physical education department!
