Imagine you're speaking to a group of people about something they've never heard of before. Nobody in this group is listening to you, but they are bouncing, talking, and flailing in their seats. Now imagine the people in the group are eight year old's. I'm a grown adult, and I even have a hard time sitting still and quietly in a seat. I bounce my leg, or shake my foot, and I'll even squirm around until I find something comfortable. Why are we so obsessed with wanting children to sit still and be silent? I'm requesting a variety of flexible seating including 2 husband pillows, 10 WALIKI Chair Balls, ten Bouncy Bands for Chairs, one Big Joe chair, carpet spot dots, and one saucer chair. Flexible Seating is a way to meet students where they are developmentally. Flexible Seating provides students with a learning environment that satisfies their wiggly-wobbly nature, and allows their attention to focus solely on the tasks being presented. When utilizing Flexible Seating, students are burning more calories, using up excess energy, improving metabolism, they have increased motivation and engagement, have better oxygen flow to the brain, and improved core strength and overall posture. It's no surprise that physical activity is linked to higher academic performance, better health, and improved behavior. Please help me satisfy my jumping, running, flailing, squirming 3rd grade kiddos, so that they can continue to work hard towards their future success!
