My students are from diverse and unique backgrounds. Many students come from bilingual homes or receive special education services. With each new topic, students have different needs and background knowledge they are bringing to the classroom. It is a priority of mine to provide my students with meaningful, real-world activities that allow them to connect the math we learn in class to real-world scenarios. I encourage my students to take risks, ask questions and think outside of the box. My priority is to create an environment that allows my students to become engaged in math and take ownership of their learning.
