My students are simply the best! Humble, appreciative, and thoughtful would just be some of the many ways to describe them. I have the best job! My students come from challenging circumstances. More than seventy five percent of my students live in the New York City Housing Authority and are exposed to many hardships as a result. Many of my students live in shelters, or temporary housing. Some are learning English for the first time. Some of my students have never met their parents and some only have one parent in their lives. My students come into my classroom ready to learn regardless of all the challenges and hardships that are on their minds daily. Donors choose has allowed me to bring my students and their families some relief by providing them with basic school supplies, coats, snacks, books and many more over the past couple of years. Every time a project gets funded they are so thankful and happy!
