The use of triple beam balances in our classroom will help student understand the concept of density as they practice measuring masses of different objects along with their volumes and comparing them with each other. My students learn best by performing hands on labs and activities and get excited when they get to do the activities instead of watching demonstrations. The triple beam balances will be one of the stations set up in our classrooms as groups of students rotate around the room, practice using the balances, and learn about the different types of measurements to include mass, length, and volume. They will also use the metric system and be familiar with its units when calculating density.
